Ko Pha Ngan

Ko Pha Ngan  is an island in the Gulf of Thailand in South East Thailand. It is famous for its full moon party at Haad Rin Beach and as a backpackers destination. Ko Pha Ngan has two sister islands: the larger Ko Samui to the south and the smaller Ko Tao to the north.

The Full Moon Party is an all-night beach party that takes place in Haad Rin on the island of Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand on the night before or after every full moon.
The first Full Moon Party was improvised at a wooden disco not far from the beach in 1985 for giving thanks to about 20-30 travelers. The Full Moon Party gained fame quickly through word of mouth, and the event now draws a crowd about 20,000-30,000 every full moon evening. The party carries on until the sun rises the next day. All the bars on the sunrise beach of Haad Rin town stay open and play music such as R&B, drum and bass, house, dance and reggae.

The modern event has become a part of the itinerary of many travelers to Asia. It is characterized by unruly and potentially dangerous attractions such as fire skipping ropes, wildly variable alcohol strength 'buckets', and a drug culture. It is indeed seen by many as the "ultimate party experience", although drug laws are still strict, and police enforcement is stepped up during the parties.

The Full Moon Party is featured in films such as Last Stop for Paul and the Thai film Hormones. It was also featured in the first episode of the Comedy Central tv show Gerhard Reinke's Wanderlust.

Ko Lanta Yai

Ko Lanta Yai

(Thai: เกาะลันตาใหญ่) is located in the Andaman Sea off the west coast of Thailand, between the Phi Phi Islands islands and the mainland. They are politically part of Krabi Province, most of which is on the mainland.

Measuring 30 km long and 6 km wide, the island forms part of the Ko Lanta archipelago, which covers an area of 180 km². The area was designated as Park No.62 of Thailand in 1990.

Less well known than the neighbouring Phi Phi and Phuket islands, Lanta is relatively less developed with most of the accommodation available being basic bamboo huts. There are very few paved roads on the island, mostly to the north, and they deteriorate gradually towards the southern end.

Ban Saladan, the main town and port, is located at the northern tip of the island and is served by ferries from Krabi, Phuket and Phi Phi. The main beaches are located on the west of the island, the largest being Klong Dao, Pra-Ae (Long Beach) and Klong Khong Beach. There are other, much less accessible, beaches at the southern end.

Ko Chang

(Thai: เกาะช้าง, pronounced , also Koh Chang) is the third largest island of Thailand (largest island in the Ko Chang Marine Park archipelago), located on the Thai east coast 310 km away from Bangkok near the border to Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand. The name means Elephant Island. Ko Chang was named for the elephant shape of its headland, although elephants are not indigenous to the island. At present, there are eight villages in total. It is a mountainous island and Khao Salak Phet is the highest peak of all at 744 metres. The island is known for several waterfalls, thriving coral reefs and rainforests. The island has an area of approximately 217 square kilometers.

Transportation

Ko Chang has no airport. The nearest airport is in Amphoe Muang Trat on the mainland. Koh Chang Air Taxi however, does offer scenic seaplane service.

Roads
There are only two main roads on Ko Chang, one on the east coast and one on the west coast. Both roads start at Ao Sapparot in the north near the ferry piers. The two main roads run the entirety of the coastlines. There are also shorter roads which branch out to Ploytalay Resort and Keereephet, Khlong Nueng and Klong Phu Waterfalls.

Ferry Boat
At Laem Ngob in Trat Town opposite Ko Chang there are 3 piers offering ferry service to Ko Chang.
  • Located at Ao Thammachat, the ferries depart daily at Ao Sapparot pier.
  • Located at Center Point Pier, ferries are hourly to Dan Kao Pier.
  • Laem Ngob Pier has less frequent ferries.

Motorbike
These can be either hired or taxied out. The island is full of both motorbike rental places and motorbike-taxi drivers.

These run up and down the two main roads and can either be used as public transport or privately hired.

Long-tail Boat
Tourists enjoy hiring long-tail boats to take them to nearby islands.

still worth it. There are quite a lot of courses around of various
different skills. For e.g.: Koh Lond, Hin Kuak Maa, Hin Luk Bath,

Spa
Ko Chang has plenty of spas offering various forms of massage, aromatherapy, herbal scrub, and reflexology. Spa service is found at many of the top resorts and hotels.

Eat

Menus are similar to the rest of Thailand, but an island-surcharge is unavoidable due to higher transportation cost of raw materials. There are many restaurants on any given beach open both daytime and evening with a strong concentration of tourist-minded facilities in White Sand Beach village.

The beaches of Ko Chang are all dotted with restaurants dishing up some delicious seafood as well as offering romantic evening views. And don’t forget to try Koh Chang’s very own wine which comes in a variety of fruity flavors including: mangosteen, pineapple and grape.
Sunsets can be watched in style from the terrace at the Top Resort in south White Sand Beach from the advantage of a cliff top, bring appetite and your camera, no reservations needed.

Drink

Beer Chang, if you wish to sample the famous "Changover" the following day.
Koh Chang's nightlife and bar scene is gaining a reputation everyday. (A good reputation that is) Unlike some of the other tourist stops, Koh Chang offers both Quiet beach bars with amazing sunset views, and dance til you passout disco bars. As you'll se below each village offers something different.
